Carly and her mother have a special gift that many people believe is evil, including Carly’s own father. Will they survive?

She stood quietly at the railing watching the clouds slide over the full moon.  She could smell the rain and knew that her time outside was limited.  From behind her Carly could hear the sounds from the television.  Her mother was watching another one of her favorite shows.  She didn’t care to go back inside.  Her thoughts were elsewhere.  The cabin where they stayed was built on the side of a mountain so when she looked down from the railing where she stood it was about a thirty foot drop.  She wondered if she would survive if she just jumped.  Carly was still toying with the idea when she heard a noise behind her.  She turned to look just as the rain began to fall.

What she saw nealry stopped her heart.  He had found them.  Her mom was passed out from the wine she had been drinking, Carly could see that now.  She had no idea that the monster she had married and left was in the room with her.  How! How could he have found them? Oh God, Mom! Wake up, I can’t do this without you! Carly was panicking.

Carly run! She could hear her mother’s voice in her head and knew that her mom was aware of her fathers presence in the house.  Their ability to talk to one another through thought and many other abilities had caused many problems throughout their lives.  They knew they had to hide or be killed for who they were.  Even her own father didn’t understand them and considered them to be evil.

The storm worked to Carly’s advantage, he was not aware of her.  Now was her chance for escape.  She glanced over the railing again and decided that was her only chance, she would use what she had in her to soften the fall.  As she fell to the ground she heard the screams.  Unsure who’s screams they were, she knew she had to block them out, block everything out now, or he would find her next.   As quietly as she could, Carly dissapeared into the forrest looking for a safe place to hide.

After several hours of wandering Carly found a hollow tree and took refuge there.  She was shaking from the cold but knew that if she lit a fire, he would find her.  She wanted so badly to try to contact her mom but they had agreed that if they were ever seperated they were not to try to contact one another.  Rage filled her, taking over the fear, until she wanted to send everything in her to destroy him.
