She looked at the paper and called another number.

“Yes.  This is Sandra Stover.  I need to make an appointment.  You left a message yesterday to call.”

“Today?”

“I don’t know.  Let me ask.  Jack, can we make it to the doctor’s office today at eleven?  They want to look at my shoulder.”

“Let me see if we can fit it in.”  He grinned.  “Sure.  Maybe I can get a donut on the way.”

“Sure.  See you at eleven.”

Before Jack could ask anything she dialed three more numbers and had short conversations.  There were unfamiliar words.  When she hung up he asked.  “Are you working for Starbucks?”

“No.  Why?”

“Well you mentioned java about ten times.”

“Jack.  You cops have a language of your own.  So do we.  JAVA is a programming language.  It’s a way of telling a computer what you want it to do.”

He chuckled, “Down at the station we have a computer language we use to tell the computer what to do.  It is called profanity.”  She laughed. 

Jack.  I have a problem.  I need a place to set up a computer.  I do some of my work from home.  We never thought to discuss this.”

“Shoot, that is no problem.  How big is it?  Will it fit in the spare bedroom?”

“Sure.  But do you want to do that?”

“Well.  If I can have you at home more, yes.”

“Jack, you know that when I have to work, I have to.”
“And I’m sure you can take a break now and then.”

“Well, yes.”

“Then that will do fine.  There should be enough space.”

They started to get ready to leave for the doctor’s.  Just as they were going out the side door to the ramp the doorbell rang.  Jack went to the front door.  A cable company installer was standing there.  “I need to install a cable modem connection.”

“For what?”
