By 4 AM she was out of the recovery room and in a four patient room. By seven the other two women joined her there. They too had both under gone AK amputations of the right leg. Actually for the latter two the surgeons did not amputate their legs. Their legs were severed from their bodies by the explosion of the bullet. By the time they got to the hospital the leg was detached. With the level and extent of the damage by the bullet wound reattachment was out of the question. The surgeons simply removed the damaged flesh, trimmed and smoothed the bone and closed the wound.
