Dean comes home from the hospital and knows he cannot live as he is.
“I know. That’s why I want to do something. I want to go back to work. I could do that better this way.”
He showed her the web page. One of the pictures was of a woman in her thirties. She had an ostomy but was wearing a two piece bathing suit with no evidence of the bag. It was not a skimpy bikini, but it showed that a bag wasn’t necessary with this surgery. After reading it they found a page that allowed them to request information. He posted his name and home address to the page and logged off.
DAY FIFTY SIX
There had been dire predictions that the shooter would strike on night fifty-six. The police kept more officers on duty to provide coverage. The mayor dictated this action. The chief was not in agreement with this strategy. Putting more police on the street meant more targets. If the past was any indication, having more people in the area did not increase the chance of leads. Dusk came. The chief was in his car on the street, just riding around. He had no more idea what he was looking for than he did fifty days ago. The night passed without incident.
Gary and Margie had a third date. When they got home from the movie she took the place on the sofa again. He massaged her stump. She could feel him become excited and pulled back and sat next to him.
“Having you do this is tough on you. It turns you on and doesn’t give you any relief.”
“That doesn’t matter. I like it. I can put up with the full feeling better than not having you. And I really feel great touching your leg.”
“Are you sure?”
“I would really like to, you know, but I don’t think I would right now even if you offered it. I want to rebuild the relationship I broke up, not get a quick roll in the hay.”
“But do you think I can satisfy you?”
“I have no doubt about that.”
“Are you sure?”
“Want to find out?”
“I said no till there is a ring.”
“I’m not talking about that.”
“Then what?”
“Just do what I say, if you find you don’t want to, let me know.”
She nodded and sat up. He rolled back with his head on the end of the sofa and put his legs up on it. “Now turn and stand with your stump on my crotch. I feel really full and the pressure will help.”
She tentatively turned and bent her left knee till her stump contacted him. He reached up so he could support her by holding her under the arms. “Bounce on me.”
A few moments later she felt him tense and then relax. She felt his hands on the sides of her breasts. It felt so good. She had fought him off before, now she did not want to. He moved his left hand to her stump and massaged it. “That felt good. Are you mad at me?”
“Not at all.”
