The first chapter of the 4th story of the.

As minutes pass, he tightens more and more, the longer they wait, the better chance he will lose his focus. Sweat drips over his forehead, down his nose. Every muscle is tight, every hair is standing. Still the wolves circle. He finally hears behind him what he has been waiting for, the cracking of leaves. The wolves are charging.

He spins around slamming his staff into the skull of the charging wolf behind him, killing it. Falling backwards to the ground, he swings his staff over his head bringing it down on the wolf, now, on his left. The two unharmed wolves jump and miss him as he falls to the ground. Backwards somersaulting he gets to his feet, turns, and darts up the hill. While running he tosses his staff and rock in the air crossing them and just barely being able to catch them in the opposite hands. Planting his right foot, he stops, twists his body like a spearman and hurls the rock at the first wolf he sees.

The wolves keep advancing. Planting his feet, he strikes down to the left at the first wolf. He then brings it back across his body to strike the one on his right. A wolf jumps up out of the night; mouth wide, teeth glittering in the moon light, going for his face. Joseph thrusts his staff deep down the wolf’s throat choking and killing it. Two large claws grab him from the side and throw him to the ground. A massive body jumps on him, with two large jaws filled with teeth snapping at his head. Joseph throws up his hands, grabbing the jaws of the wolf, trying to get him off. The other wolf comes charging up ready to kill. Joseph closes the wolf on top of him’s mouth, and holds it with on hand like a muzzle. Reaching out he grabs the charging wolfs throat and holds it back with all his might.

Thinking fast and digging up all his strength, Joseph twists the head of the wolf on top, and flips it off his body. Taking the other wolf still by the throat, he punches in the side. Nevertheless, the wolf keeps coming. Flailing his arm out, Joseph finds a rock that he slams in the wolf’s head killing it. Rolling on his feet, he stops and listens for the final wolf. He hears the cracking of leaves again, behind him. He spins around ready to kill only to find a woman.
