The Beginning: Colin consults with a friend on Gretchen’s conditon.

“So, Colin,” the smartly dressed brunette across the table eyed him inquisitively, “I know you didn’t ask me out to dinner as a date, so tell me…what’s up?”

Colin couldn’t help but grin. His long-time childhood friend and colleague knew him all too well. “I have a highly unusual case that I wanted to get your insight on.” He pulled out his notebook from the briefcase on the seat beside him, his face growing serious as his thoughts turned to the case he was about to present. “I already asked her permission to discuss this with other professionals. I think she understands the uniqueness of her situation and wants all the help we can get to solve it.”

“Well you’ve got my ears. Now dish it.”

“Well, I’ve diagnosed her as having DID, that was the easy part. The difficulty is that it appears she actually changes in ways far more dramatic then just behaviors.” Colin paused a moment. He knew the next part was absolutely incredible to the point of sounding insane.

“Based on her accounts of what happens when she switches personalities, it sounds like she actually changes in appearance and other physical attributes as well. Literally. If we are to believe what she believes, she actually goes from being a brown-haired, brown-eyed average woman to an agile blue-eyed blonde with an extraordinary ability for hand-to-hand combat.”

“Oh, now you’ve peaked my interest!” Ashley leaned forward, listening intently while sipping her drink daintily. Colin felt relieved. He knew Ashley was the best one to bring this too. She had a real interest in new phenomenons both on a scientific and a paranormal level.

“Another personality, and actually the one that seems to have tipped off the DID, has a high sexual appetite but seems to only appear when needed. From what I gather, her husband made her be involved in certain extracurricular activites that she wasn’t all too comfortable with, which then caused her to create the personality that WAS comfortable with it.

And the third personality I have actually encountered first hand which is the main reason why I believe her other accounts of personality switches.” Colin glanced upwards to see if Ashley was still intent on the case. Her eyes were sparkling with interest.

“A couple sessions ago she came in an absolute wreck. This was after her first experience as Mary Jane, the blonde fighter. Apparently based on her physical state and the appearance of her clothing, compared with a news report, she believes that her alter ego went on a vigilante spree and beat several gang members and thieves severely.”
