Chapter Three of my story.
Chapter III – Through the Racsas Forest
Continuing to walk ahead of Asher, there was nothing that she wanted more than to get away from him. The distrust had only grown with his latest feat of trying to get into her mind. Why he wanted to get inside, she didn’t know, but right at that moment Nightshade sent silent praises to one of her many teachers whom had taught her how to block unwanted probing. The teachers had also taught her how to close it and how to harm anyone that tried the stunt Asher did. “I think we’re here not, Night.” Asher said from beside her. It took a little while for her to reply; he’d shortened her name again. This was something that her father used to do when speaking to or about her. The haunting memory of this hit Nightshade roughly and with it being stirred up so suddenly, her voice trembled ever so slightly as she spoke. “Y-yes, it…it would seem that we are. I-I suppose we could rest, unless you wish to continue.” She said, hoping that he would want to keep going. However, this hope instantly died away as he answered her, “We’ve been traveling a good while now and besides, it’s getting dark.”
Nightshade stared at him with coldness in her eyes. If looks could kill, Asher would’ve been dead on the spot before her, or at least, frozen. “There is no harm in walking at night.” She told him. He looked at her with those molten gold eyes that stole her breath away and replied in a dull sounding tone, “No, there isn’t any harm, but I’d rather not walk through the forest at this time of night. It would be dangerous for someone like you as well as completely and utterly foolish.” Nightshade blinked several times in shock, her mind being stunned by his words. The feeling was as though he had just struck her across the face. This man, with levels of power on par with that of a God and muscles that would allow him to snap a tree in half, was complaining about stepping through the forest when he could probably destroy it without a single thought? It just stunned her into complete silence. And, what the hell did he mean dangerous for someone like HER?! “Humph, as you wish, Asher. I think we’re wasting time though.” She said, sitting down away from him.
