I sat inside a HoloHaven with a quickly put together focus group to see how they enjoyed it. The setting was an island paradise where you enjoyed a massage from the most beautiful people you could set eyes on. You could feel the sun’s heat, unlike the freezing days outside the doors to the suite. We gave out bathing suits for those who truly wanted to get in the spirit of things.
I sat in a lounge chair with my eyes closed. I felt a shadow cross over me, and I looked up to see who it was. It was Marco. Definitely him. I looked at my programer. “Is he real or not?”
He shook his head. “That was one of the models I used for the holographic program. He’s pretty isn’t he?” I looked back at the hologram and nodded. I was a bit shaken about how real he looked. I pulled the hologram down next to me and felt my way up his muscular arms to feel what Marco would feel like now.
The hologram’s skin was cool to the touch, so that way at least I could feel the difference. I checked it’s response. “what’s your name?” I asked it.
“My model’s name was Marco, but you can call me whatever you want.” The hologram said.
I almost freaked. He sounded like him too. I stood and moved away from it and walked toward a clock. The program would come to a halt in about 10 seconds making out with a hologram is not a position to be caught in. “Ladies and Gentle men. There are 10 seconds remaining in the HoloHaven program, so I will have to ask you to stop what you are doing. I heard collective groans from all around the room. And everyone stood.
Suddenly the gridlines appeared again. You could see a few people fall to the ground as the lounge chairs disappeared from under them. Everyone filed unto the restrooms to don their normal winter clothes. I headed for my office. My V-Phone was chiming. When I answered it, Skye’s face greeted me. I started to smile but her face told me otherwise. “What’s wrong?” I asked dreading the answer.
