Prologue.
Love does not exist.
That’s what I’d always told myself. I was prepared to be alone forever. Until he came along.
I ran away and he chased me, and no one had ever done that before. I was broken and he fixed me. He made me feel worth it, like my parents never did. He was the one I ran to at three AM when my dad passed out drunk in my bed after throwing up on his couch. He was the one who kissed my scars and held me and told me I was beautiful. He was my everything.
I know that a clean break heals a lot faster than a shattered bone, but he showed me that it works the same way for hearts.
He taught me that sometimes it’s better to stay broken, so you can’t break again.
