Deviant behavior by the characters of Shakespeare’s famous play in a new twist of the end.
Hello Lysander. Why is such a handsome man as you doing here?
Lysander:
Just waiting for you, my only love to awake.
Demetrius:
Oh I see, well I am awake, what is Hermia doing here?
Hermia:
Just waiting for my love, Helena to wake up. I am becoming rather impatient.
Wakes up Helena
Helena:
Hello love, what are you doing here?
Hermia:
Yes! She does love me! I was afraid she wouldn’t. But this makes my morning!
Helena:
Of course I love you. I would choose you over any other man or woman any day.
Hermia:
Well in that case. Fair Helena, will you marry me?
Helena:
Oh yes I will marry you Hermia. Lets not wait a minute more! We must go tell your father.
Lysander:
Do you love me Demetrius?
Demetrius:
Of course I love you Lysander. Why would you ask such a silly question?
Lysander:
I have never felt this way before, but Demetrius, will you marry me?
Demetrius:
Wow, I can’t believe how great a day this has turned out to be. Of course I will marry you Lysander!
Hermia:
Well in that case we can have three marriages at once. Incase you don’t remember. Theseus and Hippolyta are getting married tomorrow. Lets all go tell my father, and the others!
Enter Egeus, Theseus, and Hippolyta
Egeus:
What news have you brought me Hermia? Do you choose to marry Demetrius?
Hermia:
No father but I do have better news. Helena and I are choosing to marry each other tomorrow with Demetrius and Lysander.
Egeus:
Oh no what has become of my daughter and her friends?
Theseus:
I am unsure about what has happened but what do you think of this dear?
Hippolyta:
Absolutely not! I will never have two women marry each other and two men marry each other on my wedding day! This is completely disgusting. Besides Theseus don’t you ever read your own laws?
Theseus:
What law is that dear?
Hippolyta:
The law of orientation of course. It says that all love must be a man for a woman and a woman for a man. If there is ever any serious love between two women or two men like there is amongst us. They must be executed at sunset.
Theseus:
How do you feel about this Egeus?
Egeus:
I am still very shocked but if it is the law then so be it.
Hermia:
I do not mind as long as I can be with Helena, and if I am dead then so be it because she will be dead too.
Helena:
Ay. I will do what ever for my Hermia.
Demetrius:
I love Lysander very much and I will do anything to be with him. So if it is death that will bring us together then bring it on!
Lysander:
Ay. Let me die so that I can be with Demetrius.
An hour later Demetrius, Lysander, Hermia, and Helena were all executed.
A few weeks went by until Puck confessed to Egeus that it was his fault. Puck explained to everyone what happened, and he was forgiven. Oberon had to tell Theseus (or else be executed as well) where the remaining magic plants were so that the mixing up of love would not happen again in Athens.
