My Dinner with Shoeless Joe Jackson

A Play in Three Lines

Inspired by “If you could have dinner with anyone from the past, who would it be?”

SCENE:  A dining room in a small town in the American Midwest. When the play begins, SHOELESS JOE JACKSON, legendary baseball player for the Chicago White Sox is seated at the table with JEFFREY MILLER, a teacher in his fifties. They are finishing up their dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, and fresh biscuits.

SHOELESS JOE:  Are there any more mashed potatoes?

JEFFREY:  Sorry Joe. You ate the last of ‘em.

SHOELESS JOE:  Say it ain’t so.

The End.

Short but interesting. I’m guessing he’s your favorite baseball player?

    Nicely done!
