The Case of Martin and his Classmates: Going out to play.

Martin is a boy of Twelve years old studying in grade six at Kigogo Fresh Primary School. Martin has found a new playmate, Mr. T.

Martin is growing very fast nowadays. He is in grade six and has a new friend called Mr. T.; Mr. T. is in grade 9 and so, by age, is so much older than Martin. But if you look at them physically Martin and Mr. T are almost same height and body build. However, Mr. T. being older that Martin, he tends to do things which are above age to Martin and Martin copies them regardless his age and it ruins Martin’s behavior.

One day, Martin and Mr. T. disappeared for hours. When Martin returned from school at 2 pm and did not go home straight instead he went to see Mr. T. and they both went to visit a place to play games. They stayed there until later evening. Martin mom was very worried and sent people around to look for Martin. That is when she was told that martin was notices in the middle of group of older boys playing games. So she went and collected her child reprimanding for his behavior. Martin promised not to do that again.

Even after the incident, Martin Mom and Dad continued to notice big change in martin behavior: coming home late, disappearing without saying where he was going and also liking to be in groups of older boys. Martin Dad talked to him several times but he would not listen, when he is late to come back home Martin will be found wondering with other men (boys) who are much older than him. Martin grades started to lower and his teachers showed concern over him. It was necessary for martin parents to meet with Mr. T’s parents and express a concern over their child behavior of befriending Martin. Mr. T. parents were very furious on him and they banned him to see Martin again otherwise he will be grounded on all activities. So then Mr. T. obeyed and did not see Martin again. Martin began to concentrate again in his studies and now his grades are improving.
