A poem about mistakes, regret, forgiveness and love.

A lonely and unforgiven man

filled with sorrow and grief

and pain

haunted by the mistakes of the past

drifted confused.

He sat down and thought:

there are 12 months in a year

if only he could send a flower a month

then she would know

how much he cared for her

how much he loved her

and wanted to be everything she wanted him to be.

Could he send a flower a month?

He sat down and thought:

there are 52 weeks in a year

if only he could send a flower a week

then she would understand

how much he missed her

and how much his life was not complete

only empty without her.

Could he send a flower a week?

He sat down and thought:

there are 365 days this year

if only he could send a flower a day

then she would realise

how he lived for her

how he always had lived for her

and how he always would.

Could he send a flower a day?

At the end of one year he thought:

as there was only one desire in his life

what if he offered his never ending passion

what if he offered his continued devotion

and his every thought to her.

Could he offer those things?

At the end of one year he thought:

as there was only one woman for him

what if he promised to be faithful

what if he promised his eternal love

and promised never to fail her.

Could he promise all these things?

At the end of one year he thought:

as there was nothing but her in his heart

what if he gave his heart to her

what if he gave his life to her

and his inner self to her.

Could he give all of this?

He continued thinking and knew

there was only one thing for him to decide.

He needed to reach into his mind

he needed to feel what his body felt

he needed to grasp his very soul

and ask himself

what it was that he wanted

what it was he existed for

and continued each and every day for.

He needed to make a decision

based upon everything that he would ever be.

Only she can tell you

what his decision was

suffice to say

that the decision may have taken some time

but it was by no means hard.
