A poem that I wrote for someones 60th birthday as a humerous card poem.
People say you’re 60 soon
Something you forgot to mention
I guess its nearly time for you
To go and queue up for your pension
Nearly time to go and buy
Thermal vests and wooly socks
Thick and hooded dressing gowns
And a nice big chair that rocks
Swapping your virility
For doses of senility
Eating blackberries should prevent ya
From falling victim to dementia
You shouldn’t really worry though
You’ve done quite well so far
If you keep yourself active
You might stay as you are
But most of all you need to strive
To keep your faculties alive
Coz what would I do with my time
If you retire at 65!
