A love poem.

6am again
Miles away you start your day
I can feel you rise from the bed
And lean over to kiss my forehead
You try so hard to be quiet as you shut the bedroom door
You hope I’ll get more sleep
But I’m awake from this point on
Looking domestic but sexy in your bathrobe
I hear you talk to “our boy”
And he drowsily responds
I know I jokingly complain about being woken up
But I’ve come to deeply love this early morning rush
One day I’ll follow you down to the kitchen
And join you guys for breakfast
I’ll steal kisses from you as he takes a precious minute nap
You’ll flirtatiously accuse me of trying to make you late
I’ll smile innocently and you’ll take the bait
But until that day I’ll just close my eyes and find hope inside this dream
That one day I’ll be part of your 6am routine
