It wa so bright and sunny yesterday that we decided to take a walk to the beach. It looked as if everyone had had the same idea.

It was a beautiful October Morning.

Up above a brilliant blue sky.

There was no way anyone could refrain

From walking to the beach close by.

*

From a bench leading down to the sea

There was the most amazing view.

Of people taking part on this lovely day

In every activity they could possibly pursue.

Author’s own photo

*

Out on the cold choppy water

Numerous sailboats raced their last race.

A kite surfer almost collided with one

As he skimmed o’er the surface at pace.

*

Over the lifeboat a helicopter hovered

And a casualty was hoisted aboard.

It was a practice air and sea rescue

Which many a camera had to record.

*

As giant waves crashed onto the shore

Children scurried away from the foam,

Laughing and screaming in utter delight

As their parents dragged them off home.

*

From nearby apartments on their balconies

Families relaxed with a coffee in hand,

Soaking up the sun and observing

What was taking place below on the sand.

*

As I sat there at peace with my surroundings

And walkers, joggers and skaters sped past

I thought about how lucky I always feel

To live by this ocean so vast.

October is beautiful, I don’t have a beach to visit but we went to the park and walked the wooded trails and down by the creek today. the leaves are just beginning to turn. They should be at their best in a week or so.

CR…Glad the weather was pleasant enough for a sandy stroll…sounds like an active afternoon with plenty of excitement…hope this isn’t that last wonderful opportunity to go down to the sea and inhale fresh seashore air…you do such a nice job of weaving your special magic into the lines of your poems…t makes for a very easy and automatic I Like It vote…something which I have already cast…thank you…
