A poem for my Nana…
I rarely saw my father cry,
Until the day we said good-bye.
To the most wonderful woman in the world,
Who was sweeter than vanilla-swirl.
So to say good-bye would be a lie,
For she’s watching from the sky.
Remembering when we couldn’t have without a please,
No breakfast was complete without a piece of cheese.
On our knees the family prays,
In the ground your body lays.
As you climb the stairways to heaven,
We say one last time we’ll see you soon someday.
