This is in commemoration with the 17th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition by some Hindu fanatic mob. I have one religion, which is LOVE.

A BLACK SUNDAY

© Dec 6, 2009 Dr.P.Elayaraja

Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh

Were living in harmony till that day,

A mob came with hammer and stick,

And printed in history a black Sunday,

The saffron gang came with a plan,

To make to break apart the place of worship,

They implemented their programme,

That broke religious friendship,

Alas it was a sad day,

Let us not follow the ugly way,

Religions are all man made

And so the temples and the mosques,

Let the sentiments get mutual respect

The better will be our life prospect.

We do so much damage in the name of God. We never learn.

  • lonewolf13 on Dec 6, 2009

“human”ity is so in”human”e! can’t we all just get along? Most religions preach love. Where is the love in these people who purport to be acting in the name of God?

I love the last image. The placard of all the religions-Indian

I think religion is so often used as an excuse for violence. I don’t understand it. You have expressed yourself so well in this poem.

I agree with you that religions are man-made except Hinduism which is the oldest religion. That is why it is called ‘Sanatana Dharma’ (eternal religion) that has no beginning nor end. However, we must respect all religions as they are true. Violence has no place in spiritual life.

If people keep turning to man, it is hopeless.
