It has been a beautiful day today and not a bit like autumn.

*

The sun’s bright rays shone on the grass.

Through the trees they softly passed,

And in the cooling air that spread

Autumn leaves were gently shed.

*

Up above on rooftops high

A host of birds prepared to fly.

As summer now was past its prime

They must migrate to warmer climes.

*

Down below squirrels played

And gathered nuts without delay.

With thoughts of cold days soon to come

To hunger they would not succumb.

*

Bees flew by their humming loud.

A peacock stood so tall and proud.

All know as winter’s on its way

To make the most of this bright day.

Lovely, as always, I have no way to present to you a picture of squirrel, otherwise I would have presented to you one playing under the tree with sun rays coming in, filtered through the leaves of the tree.

Lovely verses. Sounds like you are having some Indian summer days. I just posted an article about Indian summer. Here it has turned cool with unseasonable low temps.

Christine, it’s cool here but still green. We will have yellows and reds before the month is out. The days are bright and beautiful, although we need clouds and rain.

The crisp air of fall has arrived way to soon here in Pennsylvania. I heard a gaggle of geese flying overhead headed south. Nicely written. Thank you and keep warm.
