A car crash is a very sad affair

Especially when it involves

A fatality and has to do

With a young child

That did not achieve his prime

Take Timothy for instance

That died in a tragic crash

On Memorial Day

As his family was driving home

From a picnic

On that day on I-64

Their lives were to be turned

Upside down

When a drunk driver

Side swept their SUV

- – -

Their vehicle

Cascaded off the highway

Landing in a ditch

Pinning Timothy

In frenzy his dad

Dialed 911

- – -

When the police

And emergency vehicles

Arrived on the scene

Timothy was unconscious

- – -

By the time they were

Able to free him

He was dead

- – -

In church, family and friends

Gathered to pay tribute

To a promising young man

In eulogies, they praised

His intelligence

And remained perplexed

Why such a young life

Was snatched away from them

- – -

“Ashes to ashes

Dust to dust”

Timothy’s body

Was interred in a ceremony

With a headstone that read,

“HERE LIES TIMOTHY ZEN

January 3, 2000 – June 26, 2010
