Paige ran into her former lover in a local corner cafe. While she enjoyed catching up on past and current events, she noticed a change in William. It was as if a stranger had taken over him and who she had loved simply disappeared. Was it was a case of mistaken identity or had time changed him and not for the better?

Paige saw William sitting at a local corner cafe,
drinking orange juice and doing some writing.
She stopped by to say hello before going home,
but William asked Paige to sit with him for awhile.

Coffee was ordered as well as fresh juice for Will,
they talked about the past as well as the present.
William stated it was a shame that we were broke up,
with downcast eyes she had to echo the same thing.

Time has been good to you and you say the same,
your book was finally published and she has a copy.
She says I still write but life and family keep me busy,
I do it more in the night time hours to have privacy.

But as Will talked to me Paige noticed subtle changes,
small things that wasn’t there when they were together.
William may not see them but she sees them very clearly,
what Paige saw wasn’t there but they are there now.

William now has a harshness that wasn’t there before,
his strong voice lost the softness that it used to hold.
He has always been very dominate and self centered,
but now it seemed to have spun clear out of control.

William has always wanted his way in the bedroom,
only listening to his sex partner when he wanted to.
But now Williams ideas of sex has drastically changed,
his idea of sex now sounds more like a freak side show.

The William she knew and loved had a very good heart,
but now it seems his heart was a huge lump of coal.
Nothing mattered to him but what William wanted,
Williams new girlfriend has to follow all of his rules.

Paige saw so many things in William that changed,
the William Paige still cherished simply doesn’t exist.
In his place sits a stranger with the same face,
but the actions and mannerism is all different.

Paige felt for a skeleton key William once gave her,
remembering the man that gave it to her long ago.
But that same man that gave it to her wasn’t there,
this William never gave Paige anything but hot coffee.

So with a heavy sigh Paige got up and said goodbye,
realizing that there must have been two Will Taylor’s.
She just spend an hour talking to the wrong William,
it must have been a case of mistaken identity today.
