Sometimes what you want or who you want falls in your lap unexpectantly. The love you both had is still there buit its sorta damaged.Trust is broken and it will take some work to rebuild or can it be done? This is where you have to decide if you love that person enough to try again or leave that door shut.

I waited and hoped you changed your mind,
for our break up was not meant to happen.
But it did and life has moved on for us both,
changes big and small has altered the other.
****
But time has helped heal our battered hearts,
we finally talked about another chance again.
Bury the old hatchet the handle down this time,
doing things better this time around we hoped.
****
But then my memory opened its gates very wide,
I saw the good and bad of our torrid relationship.
The lethal daggers we threw was very accurate,
they damaged the love and trust that we possessed.
****
But I remember all of our good times crystal clear,
the long cool nights you held me in your safe arms.
Whispered I love you very much and always will,
I want you someday to be my wedded wife forever.
****
I don’t want to clearly remember all our torrid fights,
mean and harsh words said that we did not mean.
But once said neither could take them easily back,
both our lethal daggers found its way into our hearts.
****
So here I sit torn between an answer that is very hard,
debating the pros and cons of our now current situation.
I still love you so very much and will not take that back,
but you and I don’t want to make the same mistakes again.
****
You say you still love me and we can do it all over again,
that we will be careful to not repeat the past mistakes.
I want to believe you and tell you yes lets do it again,
but circumstances now make it hard for me to decide.
****
So here we both are at an abyss that needs dealt with,
two people that still loves the other but not together.
Do we bury the hatchet and heal our ancient wounds,
or do we both leave it in the past and we both lost out?
