Time has no limitations.
This clock that sits on the living room wall no longer chimes
Face of porcelain, a picture of old days painted on it
Antique, no longer polished, but neglected
The weights missing as it passed through generations
Gear needing oil and tender loving care
Urgency to be brought back to life to chime once again
All the parts are in tack
Stories this old clock could tell,
As it ticked and tocks, chimed on the hour
Pull the chain back down and start again
No electricity to make 24 hours pass
Only gears that turn and twist by seconds, minutes, hours
Like most things, time runs slow, then out
Gears get rusty, slowly stop running, one day it stops at 10 minutes to 5
No longer in motion too tired to chime, quietly sitting on the wall waiting
For someone to restore the old clock
Repair the weights, oil the gears, polish the face let it shine once again
Talk to it about the old days, clean and shiny like new again
Admire the timepiece of elderly style that chimes once more
Brought back to life with tender loving care
