A school poem about a legend….

On the drive he will not complain

No matter the distance, or the terrain

no matter the weather, no matter the pay

the cowboy will drive cattle any day

He’s the loneliest he has ever felt

his heart like an empty gun belt

and even when he becomes an oldster

and the pistol returned to the holster,

he will always have terrible memoirs…

of those painful saddle sores

Fighting off the indians

and stopping the stampedes

no matter the cost

the job always succeeds

So if you ever meet a cowboy

and if you are for sure

never annoy a cowboy

even if you smell manure
