A poem about drunk driving.

That night wasn’t suppose to end the way it did
instead of happiness and glee
it ended in pain
and agony

Why didn’t you listen when I requested you stay at home?
Why did you go out that night?
Why am I now here all alone?

I told you to stay, but you just had to leave
I did tell you just how much
you would always mean to me

Now people stop and stare
as they see me talking to this stone
For my pleas fell on deaf ears
and you did leave me all alone.

I had begged you over and over
to think about what you were doing
I prayed that some day you would realize
you were causing me pain and suffering

They gave you your fifteen minutes of fame
Aren’t you just proud, you made the evening news?
Aren’t you happy?
you showed the world you had nothing to lose

some people still talk about you
every now and again
as soon as I walk into
the room
they quickly switch to other matters
But I know what they have said
they talk about how you could have been great
how your whole life ended up being just
a waste

They mutter about how you
could have done so much better
You were certain to get out of this town
but now you are buried
6 feet in the ground.

If you would have only listened
to my pleas
And stayed the night instead
of leaving me.
