A poem about the cyclical nature of obsession.

Spoke Hook unto the pirates,

“You must catch that little boy.”

Spoke the pirates unto Hook,

“Aye, Cap’n. ‘Twould be a joy.”

Spoke Hook unto the pirates,

“If a joy it would be,

Then why haven’t you already caught him,

And induced my hellish glee?”

Spoke the pirates unto Hook,

“For reasons numbering two

We cannot catch him;

The first reason being you.”

Spoke Hook unto the pirates,

“Why am I the problem here?”

Spoke the pirates unto Hook,

“Why, you’d throw us off the pier!”

Spoke Hook unto the pirates,

“True; this I shall concede.

Had any man caught Peter Pan

I would surely make him bleed.”

Spoke the pirates unto Hook,

“Our other reason is eternal.

We cannot catch you Peter Pan,

For it would break the cycle infernal.”

Spoke Hook unto the pirates,

“Indeed, a cycle it is:

We are trapped in a dance to the tune of one boy,

For the Will alone is his.”

Spoke the pirates unto Hook,

“If such the case is so,

Then why do we chase what cannot be caught?

Must we always follow the flow?”

Spoke Hook unto the pirates,

“I’m afraid the case shall always be so,

That we will ever chase what cannot be caught

For we are eternally damned to fight this foe.”

Spoke the pirates unto Hook,

“Our future is looking grim;

Life will pass us by

While we wait on a child’s whim.”

Spoke Hook unto the pirates,

“You must catch that little boy.”

Spoke the pirates unto Hook,

“Aye, Cap’n… ‘Twould be a joy.”
