This is a poem that reference an election gone wrong and the current state of our country.

To the woman that was raped who now waits on a table to deliver her attacker’s child
Because men in power had more consideration for her child’s well-being than her own
And deemed the morning after pill too morally reprehensible to use taxpayer’s money for,
I’m sorry.
Your burden is too costly for ones untouched by your dilemma.
Besides,
Your little wounded soul would’ve gone to hell for taking that pill.
You should be grateful you were saved!
“What of the men?” you meekly ask.
Apparently, God has no problem leaving a mother and child to starve.
Ironic, huh?

To her child now teen who can’t seem to breathe,
I’m sorry.
I wish I could help you,
But money doesn’t grow on trees and neither do vaccines.
You need to stop that coughing.
It’s giving me a headache.
You should be a doctor when you grow up.
Heal yourself.
Heal the world.
Just get away from me, kid.
“Birth defects are contagious.”
So say the news and Mr. Politician.
Try to prove them wrong
And you won’t get any more of my compassion!

To this teen now man with a ballot in his hand who heard “tax cut” and “terrorism”
And forgot the people who took a collection for his “lifesaving” operation
What have you done?
You checked off the wrong box, buddy!
Had a lapse of judgment?
Lost your way?
Got caught up in what the rich pickup truck had to say?
It must’ve been those years without proper oxygen, I guess.
Your mind never had enough strength to build common sense.

My neighbors, you have chosen unwisely.
You have sent America down the river because you couldn’t see beyond
A perspective dime and a pick up truck.
Shameful.
Massachusetts, I thought you knew better.
Senator Kennedy, you must be turning in your grave.
