There are many reasons not to clean windows and if I thought long enough, I could quite easily justify putting the task off ad infinitum. First of all, windows get dirty again as soon as it rains, but rain washes off most of the grime that has settled on them during a dry spell.

I decided that everyone needed a ready made excuse for not doing this tedious job and I came up with this.  Now I will not have to feel guilty about never cleaning them again.

(I will employ a window cleaner instead as the job is much too gruesome for me. Please read about my traumatic experience.)

Introducing  Henry, your friendly local seagull.

I shone the windows yesterday
They gleamed like stars at night,
The seagulls diving all around,
Were dazzled by the sight.

I stowed the ladder in the shed,
And brewed a soothing tea,
And sought the respite of the house
From seagulls watching me.

And as I sat upon my couch
My energy all spent,
I spotted salty seagulls,
As they plotted their intent.

And shamelessly before my eyes,
The gleaming world turned white,
A seagull with a salty aim
Had covered it in sh*te.
