I had a dream no other dreamer could dare to comprehend.

I had a dream
No other dreamer
Could dare to comprehend
While stiff he lay, and casual globes
Their revelations lend.

Mine was of the sun and moon, while
Emotion and ambition burn,
The airs sink in between.
The stars, themselves, and lonely,
Continue there to gleam.

I woke upon a green white hill
All I knew was of a sudden;
I’d found a place where sacred runs
Through the winding simple streams
To meadows of my sons!

I lay awhile, and drinking thin
Moonshine upon a parsley;
I sought the sun, and continued to brood.
Ever the hill downward swept,
And yet I still pursued.

The moon caught me up,
At the bottom slope,
Such a reprimand for wine!
But, he says, come back again,
We’ll have a merry time.

As I perceived the winds
Didn’t hold me dear,
They left me chill and flameless,
I swept about wild countryside
Swift to drive, though aimless.

I came upon a little town
And man at garden shovel.
Said I, Where might my blossoms burn?
We have no altar, came reply,
For death we wait our turn.

Sun parches the warmest mouth
And water drowns the field;
But vast and lonely are the stars,
Vast and lonely, we contemplate
The hill that once was ours.
