Poem about the fantasy of a mermaid I wrote in 2008.
The waves splash over her head.
Her hair is that of a raven’s.
Long black silk caressing her bare skin.
Emerald eyes twinkle as they glare through the cascading crystal waters.
A pale ivory completion mingled with a rosy glow.
A breathtaking beauty gracefully gliding through sapphire depths.
Teal scales shimmer like the most exquisite blue diamonds.
A shadow of moonlight glimmers as it penetrates the deep depths.
Reflections from the glimmer of light bring about the most exceptional scene.
Turquoise coral mingles with lavender sea fans and the palest pink sea shells.
They gleam like the utmost breathtaking jewels.
Exotic tropical fish glide by with dazzling royal blue, rich indigo and crimson fins.
She splashes by with a shining smile lighting up her already goddess like face.
A pure delicate princess, to which no beauty can touch.
Her home a never-ending palace of twinkling sapphire waters exemplifies her perpetual freedom.
She ever so gracefully pierces through the uncharted waters, with little fear.
No creature can catch her for her sleek stealth is unmatched.
Her haunting lullabies drift for miles in this endless ocean entrancing any unfortunate wanderer in its grasp.
She pays no mind to the creatures bustling around her, for she must keep swimming.
Her instincts are that of a shark.
She can never remain still nor can she sleep,
Therefore she cannot dream
I guess one would not need to dream for her life is already that of a fantasy.
Even though our fair goddess cannot dream our dreamer must inevitably awake from their fanciful slumber.
Our princess of the sea will fade away but she will reappear again and again because our dreams never cease.
