Letting someone past the walls around your heart…
I saw your soul today, and it looked just like mine
Our souls are now a fragment of what they left behind
I recognize the side effects, and I can feel your pain
Broken-hearted fools, that the world cannot obtain
Loneliness and a friend to hold have brought us here and now
The fortress that we built around our souls might just come down
The broken-hearted pair gaining redemption from their sins
Look at me now, and I might just let you in
How does this happen, how can this be
Their destructive path through a life, has brought you here to me
Even though fear now rules our every step
In your pocket now my heart could be kept
Through a kiss a new world can be found
And their grasp is losing the strength to bound
Confusion has a hold right now but that won’t last too long
We are learning through each other all the things we did wrong
I see life in your eyes, and darkness starts to pass
Hold on tighter, my heart no longer feels like tainted glass
We could flip a coin and take a chance at what this might be
Cross the bridge and join the brighter side with me
Shatter their hold and dismiss the pain
Their heartache caused may not compare to this gain
Your arms tell me they won’t always own our lives
Come closer and see the fortress tumble in my eyes
