Just having fun with magic lamps and genies.

I ran across an antique lamp that caught my eye,
but as i cleaned it off I was in for a huge surprise.
Smoke poured out if it and it shook  quite a bit,
it felt as if something really big wanted out of it.
Through the smoke a huge shape began to form
in loose clothing and wearing a huge white turban.
Its arms was crossed and the tips of his  gold slippers
was curled up like small circles at the edges I noticed.
His hair was long and so was his white beard he had,
but there was a smile of gratitude in his green eyes.
He told me his real name was to long to say and he
asked me to just call him Jafar if I didn’t mind please.
For he was a genie and this lamp I had was his home,
he had been trapped in it for two hundred years or so.
A dispute with a evil magician had imprisoned him he
said but you cleaning my lamp set me free once again.
Bowing to me he gave me a huge smile while floating,
he told me I had three wishes coming for freeing him.
Pondering this I eyed him with disbelief but decided to go
along with Jafar to see if  he could really grant my wishes.
I asked him for a ring with all my family’s birthstones in it,
with a wave of his hands it was there sitting in my palm.
Seeing that the ring was real I requested a serious issue,
a chance at  love again since who I loved was  long gone.
With a wave of a hand it was done but he said but this time
make sure you listen with your heart as well as your head.
I pondered my last wish with great care  and thought,
for I wanted this one to help others as well as me to.
I asked Jafar can he spread some knowledge about
how to make our lives better for those I cared about.
With a wave of his hand it was done but he said that
working together  would make my last wish stronger.
Thanking Jafar for it I watched him leave his old lamp
for now he could go back to where he once came from,
Please keep the lamp for I no longer need it as my home.
for I have a score to settle and I have waited way to long.
As I watched Jafar disappear I picked up the lamp and ring,
knowing that no one would believe the tale if I ever told it.
Vowing to keep this a secret for it was best that way I knew,
for I had come out the winner when it was all said and done.
For I had a beautiful lamp and a gold ring  with birthstones,
maybe another shot at romance if things worked out my way.
The knowledge asked for would come when it was time to,
you don’t rush a thing like that if you really want to use it right.
The genie got what he also wanted after two hundred years,
a chance to go home and find the long lost evil magician again.
This time around the genie could  have the upper hand in this,
the magician could be a loser instead of a winner this time.
The magician has grown old and his powers have weakened,
the trapped genie planned and sharpened his jeweled daggers.

That was a lovely story, Payge. I wish life was really like that but at least you brought a little of that magic to us through your words. Well done.
