A ghost named Boo.
through the wall to where the young child sat.
Boo watched and smiled as the young child tugged on the tail of the family cat.
“Boo! Boo!” cried out the young child with glee
and his mother and father turned to see
exactly who their child was talking to.
That is when they came face to face with Boo.
They watched in amazement as their young child showed no fear
of the ghost that sat so very near.
Boo made no movement, nor did he make any sound
as the young tot turned completely around.
The young tot put a smile on his face that lit up hi eyes too
as he looked at the face of the friendly Boo.
“Toy!” said the tot as he held out his favourite ball.
Boo hesitated for a moment and thought of fading into the wall.
But he thought against it as he reached out
for the ball, while in his mind he held a measure of doubt.
Boo rolled the ball to the child as he squealed with glee.
And for one in his life Boo felt truly free.
They played for hours until it was time for bed.
Then the father picked up his son, and Boo bowed his head
for he knew that he must go.
But where he would go he did not go.
“Boo! Boo!” the child cried
as his father tucked him in for the night.
And try as he might
the father could not get his son to settle down.
Then he looked up and wondered if Boo was still around.
His wife went downstairs to look for Boo
and she saw him floating towards the door sad and blue.
“Won’t you stay for the night?” the mother asked
Boo stopped and looked at her startled at the thought of the task.
“No one has ever asked me to stay.”
said Boo “I was always told that I was in the way.”
“You’re not in the way. So please don’t go.
For our young son loves you so.”
Boo brightened up, because he never had a home.
He was always forced to roam the world alone.
Boo followed the mother up to the child’s room
and he realized that his world was no longer filled with gloom.
Boo floated over to where the child lay,
and laid down beside him and realized that it was the end to a perfect day.
The child rolled over and looked at Boo
he smiled then fell asleep, and Boo knew exactly what he had to do.
With the parents permission Boo was allowed to stay,
and not once did Boo get in the way.
Boo rested beside the child and thought of the years to come,
and he promised himself that he was going to enjoy each and every one.
Boo also knew that never again, the world, he would roam.
For young Boo had finally found a permanent, and loving, home.
