In Memory of Laura Tye, Feb. 11, 1987- Nov. 18, 2005.

A girl died today.
It was an unexpected thing.
There was no warning at what the day might bring.
A girl died today.
There was no time for tears, no time for goodbye,
No time to ask a question of why.

A girl died today.
Her life was lost, driving along.
Probably singing to her favorite song.
A girl died today,
A loud boom and a jerk and a crash,
Her life was gone in a single flash.

A girl died today,
We listened, our minds unable to stay,
Hearing all about the girl who died that way.
About a girl who died today.
A life, this girl that we didn’t know,
A life so short, too short to have to let go,
Gone like that, this girl who died today.

In the dark of the night my mind does recall
This girl who died, lived above me in my hall.
So many times I passed her by,
Sometimes we’d smile, sometimes we’d say hi.
This girl I will not see again,
Too late now to be her friend.

A girl died today.
A girl I never really knew,
A girl whose heart and friends were true;
A girl who’s eyes I’ll never see,
A girl whose life should mean nothing to me.

But this girl who died today,
It does affect my life, my heart.
This girl who died,
Has changed my soul.
I may have never known her
But I can feel her surrounding.

A girl died today.
But don’t be sad,
Instead rejoice and be glad.
A sister died today.
She’s at home now.
She’s is part of Him and part of us,
Faithfully loving the one she did trust.

Part of me she’ll always be,
Cause I’m in Him and He’s in me.
A girl died today.
Now I live on and she’s in me,
So life will always be.

A girl died today.

She’s no longer here.

She’s in a world without any fear.

A girl died today,

And we with her died too.
A girl died today,
Is she still with you?
