To begin at the beginning, is to start at the start.

Open your mind while you open your heart.

And you will be told of a tale that is as old as time.

It’s a tale of love that is gentle and kind.

It begins on a day so very long ago

with a lovely young maiden who went out for a stroll.

As she walked along the road in garments so fine

she failed to pay attention to the sights that she left behind.

As she continued to walk she came to a fork in the road

and became confused, for she was lost and did not know which way to go.

She stood there for hours, but it felt like days

when a feeble old man came along her way.

He asked her “My Lady, please tell me so

that I may be honoured to help you figure out which way to go.”

The maiden stood there and shook her head in doubt.

She said “I got myself into this, I can most certainly get myself out.”

The old man said “As you wish.” as he walked on by

leaving her to her thoughts under the cloudy skies.

She watched to old man as he walked away

and thought to herself “how dare such a peasant cross in my way!”

She stared down the three roads as she thought

of all of the trouble that she had wrought.

She stood there and thought until she broke down and cried

and she turned her tear stained face up to the sky

she cried out “Papa! My papa! I am lost and alone.

I have come to this fork and don’t know which way to go.

If you will help me, I promise you that once I get home

I’ll stay where you tell me and never more will I roam.”

She laid down on the ground and cried herself to sleep

she slept for several hours, or maybe it was a week.

When she woke up she looked around the land

and came face to face with the feeble old man.

He looked at the maiden and said “My Lady, please tell me so
