A request unfulfilled.

She said “give me a happy ending

On your next venture in writing

Please let the heroine be smiling

as your story comes to the closing..

Let me feel the thrill of seeing

lovers sweetly embracing

So, in this case I’m pleading

please give me a happy ending..”

“Your stories have always been sad

But I am not saying it’s all that bad

‘Cause I really feel for the bitter lad

that almost all of your pieces had…

Don’t think the worst of me and get mad

I just want to smile after you scribbled in your pad

This time please, make our hero glad

And not the tragic ending that makes me so sad…”

I replied, “Ironic.. in the sense that you’ll be requesting

That I write of loveliness and expect a happy closing

‘Cause I can only express of things that I am feeling

And right now you are the reason why I am still writing…

How can I create a joyful theme of musing

When you’re the inspiration of all my writing

You know how I feel and of the love I am keeping

The one that you turn down everytime I’m requesting…”

I looked at her face and it turned really sad

And I regret saying the words that almost made me mad

Now she’s downcast, and I’m feeling really bad

My most faithful fan was always never mine to be had…

Her next words (almost a whisper) came out creaking

Was that a sob or is her voice really shaking?

But the pain she showed doubled in my heart that’s breaking

She said “Looks like both our happy ending will never be forthcoming..”

Is it through pain that we really know love? :(
They say happy endings are only in fairytales, it must be true, because there will always be something to makes complete happiness unachievable. :(

If it’s for the sake of all those passionate, short-lived but perfect poetry lines, I will sacrifice all the happy endings that will bring my creativity to freezing point. All the great men in literature have made the crucial decisions in life, a love life for a lifetime or an immortal masterpiece to outlive their lifespan. The catch is present technology gave us the option to attain both. It’s just a question of how.

Got to write what’s in your heart and it’s not always what we want to hear.

If I read too much into this, I could see another storyline happening, but for now I will leave at this. Friend, fan, smile.

    Very sad poem.

We would have far fewer songs and poems in this world if not for sadness and pain – for some reason sadness inspires creativity. I suppose it is because writing tends to be a cathartic experience. So hey – the more messed up our lives get, the more poetry we can write!
