A poem I wrote in my head when I probably should have been listening in class. I’ll be honest, I’m rather proud of this one.
a hard horizon
subliming with the silence of the sky
vaporizes memory of night and day
swirls them together
until it dawns
we have forgotten what we know-
that ours is but a small part
of a huge pot of peppered water
a dim planetary dot
on other hard horizons
it’s not strangling the dolphin that is hard
it’s finding the neck
that really becomes a problem
but what was I saying
before i deviated from my subject?
of course, our world
as seen from others
is a pathetic (unimpressive)
thing
with an atmosphere
just enough to generate sentience
good one, ones
of millions of miles
of relentless gravity
the weight cannot be described
which reminds me
she always smiles when I say that I miss her
as though my loss
were a mass
and the further she went, the stronger my loss should be
but what was I saying about the others
oh yes, that there are others
but you have already convinced yourself of that
obviously or
you haven’t been listening
have you?
