Writer’s challenge using "bad smells" and "disappointments".

Memories of Mom’s pancakes and sausage;

French toast smothered in butter and syrup;

Strips of bacon, fried crisp, and put to the side;

Southern biscuits covered in thick sausage gravy;

My mind and my stomach are now considering

Multiple entrees to go with coffee and cream.

My mouth close to drooling over breakfast delights,

I open the frig door and begin to survey;

Something in plastic that’s now turning green,

Bran muffins and margarine are all that I see.

Bad smells, and low fat disappointments fill the shelf,

Where appetite had hoped for a heart attacks dream.

    I never dreamed of a heart attack but surely it’s as unexpected as a thief in the night. You have a well written poem which will caution those of our kind drowned in the act of gluttony.

    LoL – that is great! I know that song. Although the mouldy food stuff and bad smells should have dissipated my hunger, it has not. You’ve made me very hungry now :-)

    Great poem and pictures. Those pictures of the food took me back to my childhood days when my dear mother would make all these goodies you mentioned in your well written poem. Now i ‘m starved. well done friend.

    As a fat guy, after reading the first eight lines or so, I share your disappointment. Good job.
