A secret longing for a stranger that haunts the mind.

I am seeking something that is not
within my grasps; nor does it present itself
in the dawn of the day but, in the darkness
of closed eyelids.

A longing for a soul engulfed heart
a passion that only exists in the dreams
of enraptured lovers and fairy tales of
lost loves.

For this day there is a vision, a question
of what will be when the path has
ended and the direction has led to
the dirt in the desert.

The love this soul will seek may be
found in the hole of ancient history
a blood boiling love that stretch’s the sea
that shall remain until the heart beats no more.

Well, Lauren… this really is a wonderful piece of true poetry. It’s all said in “simple” words, but they are flowing like they only do in poetry, and you’re saying some deep and truthfull things, in a gentle way, touching, and with images… simple, okay, but it’s the context that makes them special (”the darkness of closed eyelids” works so well because it’s opposed to “the dawn of the day”). I also very much liked “the dirt in the desert”. “The dirt” is not enough, “the desert” isn’t enough, no… it has to be “the dirt in the desert” (oh, and how that sounds!) – and that’s what makes it special. And you have written some really awsome last lines too… Jeez’, if you were cooking and I was Mr. Michelin, I would give this exquisite Nouvelle Cuisine *****!

Hi Lauren, nice to see you again. A very heartfelt \’extempore effusion\’ as Coleridge would have said.

Another very creative poem, Lauren. Several other people have already mentioned it, but I can see those “closed eyelids” and I know there is a seperate world for closed eyes (sleep; dreams).
