I wrote this after looking at some honeymoon photographs.
My hubby and I first married
Nearly forty years ago,
And decided for a honeymoon
We wanted to head for the snow.

Austria was just the place
For our house-party holiday,
Where everything was included
And there was nothing extra to pay.
We knew we couldn’t ski
But that didn’t stop the fun,
As we hired two shiny skibobs
And headed for the cresta run.

We zoomed down icy hills
And each time we hit a bump
We soared through the air laughing,
Till we came down again with a thump.

We took a trip up the mountain
In the dark on a horse and sleigh.
The horse behind ate my bobble hat
As I watched it disappear in dismay.
Once at the top we drank mulled wine
Which soon warmed us up once again,
Then as toboggans were handed out
Our excitement was hard to contain.

My hubby and I shot off fast.
Not one ounce of control did we show,
As we tumbled off into a gulley
And came up with faces full of snow.
It was an amazing honeymoon
We danced and we sang and we played.
And returned home in very high spirits
Remembering the wonderful place where we stayed.
