Police investigates a homicide…

Image via Wikipedia

Touching the dead,

the killer fled,

pulling one hand

from the warmth of a pocket,

blood seeping out of the eye socket,

cooled down,

staining the ground,

killing was the ultimate sin,

the police squats down to grab

the dead man’s chin,

pushing the head to one side,

wounds opened wide,

it was indeed a horrific homicide,

killing with no pride,

and compassion would hide.

There’s the frank I know…great prose, nice flow, also again a social awareness piece within the context of poetry, it’s historical. At one point in the far future someone will read this and say wow, our society was really screwed up. Look at this piece of prose consistent with historical facts. All the great artists of our past have always reflected the social climate of the environment they came from through their art form. Musicians, Painters, Writers. You consistently do it with such ease which shows your style. You have definately established your literary voice from where I sit. Great all around display here!

“And compassion would hide”. What a liturgy for our society. Very poignant.
