This is a storylike poem about how a bad past can affect you and what lengths you will go to to get rid of it.

She had only one way to cope
To deal with her painful past
She blanked it from my mind
And hoped it would last

But like everything else
Eventually it all came back
From the haunted memories
She turned to crack

It erased her mind
It made her not feel
A dirty little habit
Payment was needed
She began to steal

Until she gave it all up
It went on and and on
But by the time she did that
Everything she loved was gone

She needed someone to talk to
But no one was there
Empty feelings
She sank to despair

The clouds rolled in
A storm drew near
She walked with her head down
There was nothing left
Nothing but fear

But out of nowhere
Something came forth
It raged inside
Maybe she was being decieved
By the cruel waves
Moving with the tide

The rain began to fall
Perhaps the only way
To tame a hurting mind
Surrounded by the storm clouds
putting her past away
It was a future she needed to find

A moment of insanity
She knew sometimes
Life was just not fair
Finding the courage
She stepped back off the ledge
Realizing that all along
It was up to her
She was the one
Who had to care

Good for you, girl. Stay away from the ledge. Stay away from the other stuff, too. Once you care for yourself you’ll be surprised how many others will care for you, too. You’re poem was excellent.

I believe at some point in our lives, we would feel like this. Be it a teenage child, a middle-age crisis, or when someone is old. You delivered this good, keep it up.. ;)
