After all the snow and rain we actually had a bright day the other day and were able to take a scenic walk.

Today for the first time in some weeks

The sun did brightly shine,

And so we took a winter walk,

No longer to our home confined.

We came upon the harbour view

Where the water and sailing boats gleamed,

And owners were using these bright few hours

Cleaning paintwork until it beamed.

Cafes lining the harbour’s edge

Were anticipating more profitable times,

When spring would bring the visitors

To spend some hours in warmer climes.

A fishing boat has just returned

With a generous catch to end its day.

And for the men a beer is gratefully drunk

A reward for the early start they’d made.

The lock is almost empty now

But soon with boats it will compete.

In summer it’s a hive of activity

A place for boating friends to meet.

Down on the beach in winter breeze

A child builds a castle from sand,

Gathered together with his boots

Far too cold to use his hands.

Here the tower where my hubby came

To spend a youthful break with chums.

They climbed the top and admired the view

Before being chased by a man with gun. (That’s true)

And so returning home once more

We take a moment to admire the views,

And thank the Lord that our blessings

On this sunny day have been renewed.

I’m glad your weather cleared up enough for an enjoyable walk. We have been frozen in all week. We were able to go out today to start the cars. We were afraid both batteries would have died, but they started okay.Thank goodness the temp will rise over the weekend.
