This poem is about that instance between waking up and actually geting up. It is about hitting the snooze button just after the alarm scares you.
I saw you this morning
Before I got up.
You traitor,
Lurking behind the ashtray
And a dirty sock
I trusted you.
I should have known.
You waited until I looked vulnerable
Until my breathing sounded peaceful again.
And now,
How can I describe what happened
A strive for attention?
A unconscious reaction?
No!
A cowardly act.
You attacked with
Your pearsing sound
Behind my back.
But I know
The reaction of a gentleman
Would not mirror mine.
There is no violence needed
to find a common ground.
I hope maybe we could talk.
