When it all seems for naught, look forward and think the best of life.
They say they see the emerald grass
See it, smell it, taste it in the air.
The dreams are in the field yonder
Where times are great and life is fair.
Never have to wander far to find pleasure
Yet it is all a lie.
Where life is full of grandeur
But the despair of searching will leave you to cry.
Our life is for toiling
Ever trying to mold a life from dreams.
Where dreams are the blueprint
For the reality that all search for.
They are a shadow on a cloudy day.
You see it for a moment when the sun shines
Then clouds hide the sun.
The dream is gone.
The uncertainties and chance of life overcome effort.
The waters of life are always eroding
What work can only repair and never build up.
To gain happiness from dreams is a futile attempt.
The waves of life always pull away
And the golden coast cannot be reached.
I am merely afloat in the water of life
Pushed by the currents without an oar.
To what destination are we carried
When all is over and work is done.
