A song about how little we know the more we accumulate knowledge.
The more I read, the less I know. The less I see, the more I grow.
What I’ve learned, did I memorise? What I recalled, did I analyse?
Just as well, school has come and gone
Didn’t understand much of what was going on
The more I read, the less I knew;
I saw too much, and not much grew
Refrain: I’m going to admit it: I just don’t understand;
My memory’s good, but I just don’t understand;
I read well enough, but I still don’t understand;
But I know I need……to be right with God.
The older I get, the less I know. The more I see, the less I grow.
What I learn, do I perceive? What I read, do I believe?
Refrain
I’m surrounded by women of varying years:
Some are aggressive; some don’t shed tears;
Some are warm, kind, have a gentle stance;
I get confused – I’m a simple man.
The more I read, the less I know. The more I see, the less I grow
The older I get, the less I know. The harder it gets, the more I grow
Refrain
