A poem written at the height of one of my worst bouts of depression.
Seek refuge behind a mask of lies.
Don’t let them in.
Don’t let them see.
You.
The real you.
Hide the scars and paint on a smile.
Take a deep breath and jump.
The water’s cold as you slip into a dark oblivion and the ghost comes out to play.
Because it isn’t you.
It’s just a hollow shell masquerading around in your body.
Smell the vile confidence of which it reeks.
Fake.
Cover it in black and show the signs.
Depression.
Anger.
Solitude.
Just pray you’re saved before it’s too late.
Goodbye Innocent Angel,you’ve been replaced.
Exchanged for black nails and bleeeding mascara.
Bleed it out.
Cry it out.But don’t let them see.
Deny.
Deny and lie and cheat and hide.
And when that refuses to work, run.
Run hard and long and don’t look back.
Don’t think back.
Forget.
Give in.
To rise with the moon and make your escape.
Cheat and lie and steal.
A game.
Your life.
Gather round boys and girls.
Watch me waste away.
Laugh and deny.
Play your cards right.
Maybe i’ll die.
Don’t i make you sick?
Keep it inside.
Don’t let them in.
You don’t know me.
Give up.
I’m done.
Drink my tears.
Bottle my blood. But don’t follow me.
You will lose.
Darkness.
Black.
Hopeless.
Lost.
Forgotten
