Getting married is not the only game in town. So a pregnant woman discovered as she was taking her marriage vows to a swinger. An event ensued that forced her to swallow her pride and get out of this relationship.

As a child I love

Dolls and baby houses

For little people

- – -

As I grew

I learned to play

Mommy, daddy

And doctors on call

- – -

My dream was

To be married

And I was full of pride

- – -

Like many women

I wished and prayed

For the right man

To come along

- – -

I’m talking

About a gentleman

Who loves me

That would be

Marriage material

- – -

When I couldn’t find

Such a person

I settled for someone

That embarrassed

The hell out of me

- – -

Fred was a swinger

A ladies man

And was known

For having affairs

- – -

On many occasions

I threaten to leave

He would beg

That I forgive his indiscretions

- – -

Through these ups and downs

I became red in the face

With disgust and anger

- – -

With my pride

I couldn’t let go

Since we were to be married

And I was going

To have his baby

- – -

What broke the camel’s back

Was when Shelia

One of his flames

Showed up at our wedding

And made a scene

- – -

I blushed and blushed

In horror

Not knowing what to do

Nor say

- – -

Fred is gone now

I had to swallow my pride

And realize

That getting married

Isn’t the only game

In town

    This is a bitter reality

It’s easier to walk away early on, than being miserable for years. And it’s costs more to get out of a bad marriage than to enter one.

Interesting, funny, sad and surprising… all in one.

marriage can never be the answer…its just a ritual…love is the most important thing..

She should find another man.Fred, wasn’t the right man for her. A woman shouldn’t marry just for the sake of being married. It’s better for a woman to stay single than to suffer for the rest of her life.

So true. I have to agree with all the comments above. Marriage to the wrong person is like living in hell. Better to wait for the right one regardless of the pregnancy.

That takes a lot of courage but good for her!

She eventually did the right thing for herself. That would not have been a happy marriage. A good poem.

Marriage is an institution, where people try to find love while walking the path of lust.

  • lovinglyoursjuny on Dec 28, 2011

Precisely, Marriage is not a game – and should never be a game.

  • Fika Thiana on Dec 28, 2011

Do not ever make marriage be a game. And do not ever regret the marriage, thankful for everything that happens, take the wisdom of all the existing problems.

  • Sebastian Onciu on Dec 28, 2011

A sad end,but in such cases breaking up seems unavoidable.

  • Martin Kloess on Dec 28, 2011

    There was a way.

This is very good. It would be terrible to get married when things are not right. Marriage should be taken seriously and not be seen as a game. I really enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing.

    She’ll be happier without him.
