A poem using some of the same styles as Martin Luther King Jr. in his "I Have a Dream" speech.

The trees have a dream today.

It is a dream deeply rooted in the soil.

Thick and dark and moist.

The trees have a dream today.

A dream of birds perched on their strong branches.

Pure and melodious song.

The trees have a dream today.

Of terrible things like natural disasters and forest fires,

and of wonderful things like sunshine and rain.

Life and death.

The trees have a dream today.

It is a dream deeply rooted in the earth.

Of winter and spring.

Of summer and fall.

Their roots that go deep.

The trees have a dream.
