A poem about friendship. A gender had to be designated, but it’s meant to be a genderless poem. He/she is interchangable.

My friend, she gave me a bouquet of daisies
because she knows I love them.
She gave me her comforting shoulder
so that I would have a place to cry
and lent her ear to know the source of pain.
I learned that if it was important to me
it was to her as well.
I learned that I need never feel embarrassed
Or uncertain of her affection.
She laughed with me when I felt joy
with no judgement of the source.
She honored my trust
and gifted me with hers.
I learned from her
and she accepted what I could give in kind.
We paused a while when our lives crossed,
then she left with no goodbye.
